I am a mixed media artist, and mother. I have experience working with a multitude of mediums. Some of my favorite mediums include textiles, clay, watercolor and charcoal. I went to school for fine art, and horticulture. I worked as a professional baker in NYC for many years. I was a hairstylist for over 15 years and taught other hairstylists while working to develop products for a Japanese haircare company.
Art has always been my passion, as well as reading fiction and writing short stories on my free time.
Since I was young, I was fixated on how to make things. I had a deep love of nature, perhaps unusual for a girl growing up in Brooklyn NY. I had the unique opportunity to spend my summers upstate absorbing and observing the wild world—something I will always be grateful for. With a fascination and love of animals, I began drawing from life at a young age.
During my teens, I spent time in the Mid-Manhattan Library exploring their massive picture collection. From ancient maps and medical drawings, to audubon paintings and copies of block prints and linocuts of nature, I used their copy machine to make hundreds of copies to take home and use for inspiration.
I look forward to using my skills to inspire kids to explore all the things that interest them, and to never stop learning!
