Say Hi
  • The painting in my profile picture is a self portrait. I was 3 years old in my reference image!
  • In 2023 I co-founded Yonkers Museum of Art, YoMA, in my partner’s home with the goal of reimagining what a museum can be and facilitating a space for the community to explore a range of creative programming including Collage Jams & a Blessing of the Animals!

Hello Hello! My name is Emily Gabrielle and I am a Boriminican fine artist from Washington Heights & the Bronx. I see the world through texture, layers, and color. For the past few years now I have been discovering who I am and what my purpose is; as an artist but also as an educator.

What I remember the most while reflecting on my personal experiences in school are the teachers who really saw what I was capable of and pushed me in the direction they knew I needed. In high school I lacked the confidence to pursue an art career simply because of a limiting belief that I was not a good enough artist and I think that was rooted in the fact there was a lack of arts education in the neighborhood I was raised in. I have tremendous gratitude for my teacher who fought for arts education in our school and pushed me to pursue my career as an artist. Seeing the impact she had on me motivates me to pay it forward and hope I have this same impact on my students.

Working with ages 2-8+ showed me the true importance of creative expression and experimentation through the Reggio Emilia approach. My goal is to provide my students with fundamental tools while allowing them to make artistic and/or experimental decisions confidently.

I graduated SUNY Purchase with a BFA in Printmaking in 2021 and, shortly after, was featured in two of CAfED Inc.’s group shows, “Seeing Voices De Visiones Boricua”; alongside legendary artists such as Marcos Dimas and Juan Luis Rodriquez, and “Phenomenal Women”; dedicated to honoring woman in the arts during Women’s History Month, both at El Barrio’s Artspace P.S.109. While working as the Operations Assistant Manager of Education for Broadway Housing Communities, I maintained the educational programming/operations at the Sugar Hill Children’s Museum of Art & Storytelling; I supported as a teacher’s assistant at the Sugar Hill Museum Preschool; and I managed/curated The Rio Galleries II & III.
